Leadership Coaching – Get moving in your career

From Frustration to Fulfillment

She was frustrated at work.  She thought about jumping to something else, but she wondered how to be sure that it would be any better.

That was the starting point for our coaching sessions.  Here’s that client’s journey:

Our short-term goal was to identify ways to improve her current situation. Our other goal was to create a framework of what she needs to thrive at work, to guide future career step choices.

These goals were important to her because she wanted to wake up energized in the mornings and feel the satisfaction of contributing.  She wanted to be more present for friends and have more bandwidth for volunteering.

Through coaching she learned two key things about herself.

1. She (like a lot of us) subconsciously connects how much she is paid to how much she is valued, so she has some deep emotions when approaching compensation conversations and assumes that everyone defines “fair” the same way she does.

2. She can communicate anything in a spreadsheet so easily, that she doesn’t always notice when others don’t or can’t “read” everything she sends that way.

Together we worked on reframing her approach to talking with her bosses. Conversations that used to feel confrontational, could now be driven by curiosity and collaboration.

She got a promotion!  And she’s thriving having created the work environment she needed.

She noticed her symptoms, didn’t dismiss them as “that’s just how work is”, identified that coaching was a solution, and made an investment – in herself.

I wish I had learned much earlier in my career journey about my core values, my relationship with money, and my default ways of communicating.  So as a coach, these are some of the tools I offer so my clients can thrive.

If you see yourself in this story, with similar symptoms and important goals, and you’ve been trying training programs, podcasts, and books, but haven’t felt momentum, yet alone a transformation, perhaps the solution you’re seeking is – coaching.
