Part of the problem is that the map that got you to where you are now, isn’t helping you get any further, which makes you feel risk-averse and worried about going in the wrong direction.

Here’s what I believe:

I believe the approach of “everyone before me figured it out on their own, so I can figure it out” is outdated and unnecessarily stressful.  I dream of the day when everyone has a “great boss” with plenty of time and skills for career development conversations, but unfortunately we aren’t there yet.

I’ve had my own moments rallying my nerve to ask about a promotion.  I’ve wrestled with decisions on whether to change departments, or even leave a company.  I’ve also held my breath as I released my reliance on technical expertise as my source of credibility, authority, and validation, with blind faith that I’d get them some other way.

Looking back, there are insights and skills I wish had developed earlier in my career.  That’s why I got certified as a leadership coach and started my business.  I want to be a key resource to help professionals unlock their potential and keep thriving.
